Rajput Clans

The Rajputs are one of India’s most illustrious warrior communities, whose legacy of valour, honour, and princely rule shaped the history of northern and central India for over a thousand years. Organised into patrilineal clans tracing descent from the Sun, Moon, and fire, the Rajputs remain a symbol of chivalry and royal heritage in the Indian consciousness.

Below is the comprehensive list of Rajput clans/lineages.

Suryavamsa(सूर्यवंश)

The Rajput clans that claim descent from the Sun God (सूर्य देव) are known as Rajputs of the Solar Dynasty. Their clans are numerous and they ruled various parts of India since antiquity.

Below is the list of Suryavanshi(Solar Dynasty) Rajputs:

• Sisodiya
• Rathore
• Kacchwaha
• Bundela
• Badgujar
• Gautam

Chandravamsa(चन्द्रवंश)

The Rajput clans that claim descent from the Moon God (चंद्र देव) are known as Rajputs of the Lunar Dynasty. They are spread across India and were among the prominent clans of Kshatriyas during vedic and post vedic times.

They are divided into two prominent lineages known as Yadu(descendants of King Yadu) and Puru(descendants of King Puru) lineages.

The Rajput clans that claim descent from the Fire God (अग्निवंश) are known as Rajputs of the Fire Dynasty. They are mostly concentrated around western india (Gujarat, Rajasthan) but are found in small pockets around the subcontinent.
